Video documents impact of illegal camping on Parkway

Video - Supervisor Serna observes impact of illegal camping on the ARP in Woodlake section - June 13

Tuesday, June 13, 2017 was the first day of Sacramento County FY 2017/18 Budget deliberations. For me, the day began in unorthodox fashion at sunrise (approximately 6 AM) as I met a videographer on the Woodlake section of the American River Parkway. Watch video

The purpose of shooting a video that I later presented during the budget hearing, was to impress upon my colleagues, our executive staff, and the public the fact that we have, and continue to apply woefully inadequate resources to minimize illegal camping impacts along the Parkway. Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 14 we vote on a proposal I presented to substantially augment the Sacramento Regional Parks budget to finally do what I believe is necessary if we hope to save the Parkway. If you feel similarly, I invite you to join us in chambers to testify in person, and/or send all five of us an email explaining your support for enhanced efforts to maintain a clean and safe American River Parkway.Trash on ARP

Thank you for your consideration.
