County agrees on plan to improve jail conditions

My office is receiving calls and emails from concerned constituents with questions about the costs associated with a jail expansion consent decree agreement in the class action litigation suit Mays vs. County of Sacramento regarding conditions of confinement for inmates in the County’s two jails. In short, Sacramento County is one of several counties in the state targeted with a lawsuit and challenges from the Prison Law Office (PLO), Disability Right California (DRC) and other law firms due to jail conditions.

To better understand the lawsuit, consent decree agreement and estimated costs, please refer to FAQ’s: Lawsuit Regarding Jail Conditions or email JailLawsuit@saccounty.net.
