On a 91-7 vote, the U.S. Senate just passed a historic Water Resources Reform and Development Act. Once signed by the President, the Act authorizes federal participation to complete 200-year flood protection for the more than 100,000 people living, working and playing in the Natomas community.
My sincerest thanks to Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency staff, my elected colleagues who also serve on the SAFCA Board, and our Congressional delegation for working so hard for so long. Special thanks to Congresswoman Doris Matsui for her determination and perseverance. It is the people I represent – my neighbors – to whom I am most grateful. They have been incredibly patient, understanding, and they have positioned us where we needed to be in order to achieve Congressional support – Thank you!
