During the month of October, Sacramento County will be constructing improvements along El Centro Road to enhance safety and comfort for cyclists and pedestrians. The improvements will be constructed on the two-lane segment of El Centro Road, from approximately 1,400 feet north of San Juan Road to about 300 feet south of Arena Boulevard.
Beginning the week of October 9, Sacramento County crews will be on site to widen the pavement on the east side of El Centro Road by approximately five feet. This will be followed by a slurry seal over the entire roadway, and new pavement striping that will include a traffic lane in each direction and five-foot wide shoulders on both sides for bicyclists and pedestrians that are separated from the traffic lanes by a two-foot wide “buffer” area. These improvements will provide a safer and more comfortable experience for cyclists and pedestrians using this portion of El Centro Road. All work is anticipated to be completed by mid-November.
For any questions regarding these improvements, please contact Dan Shoeman with the Sacramento County Department of Transportation at (916) 874-6222, or e-mail shoemand@saccounty.net.
